Piper Presents Seminar at Michigan Association of Nonpublic Schools Statewide Conference

Bodman partner Karen Piper presented a seminar,"Legal Update: Child Custody Issues, Social Networking and H1N1 Legal Issues," at the Michigan Association of Nonpublic Schools ("MANS") statewide conference on October 29, 2009 at Cobo Hall in Detroit. MANS is comprised of Catholic schools from the seven dioceses of Michigan, Michigan Region of Christian Schools International, Michigan District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod Schools, and the Association of Christian Schools International in Michigan.

Ms. Piper advises employers, including many schools, on all types of employment and school issues and regularly represents them in litigation. She is often consulted by employers on day-to-day employment issues and in developing employment policies and procedures. Ms. Piper is a frequent speaker to professional groups on employment topics ranging from hiring and selection to discipline and discharge, performance evaluations, reductions-in-force, sexual harassment, accommodating disabled employees, FMLA, wage and hour issues, employee privacy, and many others. She is also an adjunct assistant professor at Madonna University where she teaches a graduate course on legal issues in education for the Catholic School Leadership Program.
